Getting started

You can log in to Microsoft Teams at https://teams.microsoft.com/ Please ensure you use your Trinity Laban user name and password.

Microsoft have prepared a helpful guide to getting started with Teams (PDF) which you can use as a good introduction to the platform.

There is also a temporarily free LinkedIn Learning course about using Teams in Education (no login or registration required), which provides lots of information and tips on how to use Teams.

Recommendations and limitations

Once you are logged in to Teams, you may wish to install the desktop app, which allows you to use additional functionality within Teams, such as the ability to easily share your screen, or use virtual backgrounds to blur your webcam’s background.

The Teams app is available on Windows, Mac OS X, Android, and IOS devices.

Overview of using Teams

A quickstart guide has been put together by the IT Department, which is available on the Intranet, in the IT FAQs for Microsoft 365.

Tips for using Teams

It’s very easy to create a new “team” within Microsoft Teams. A team can be limited to a class (with all teachers and students), a group of collaborating students, or a mix of students and staff. To create a new team, go to the Teams tab and click the “Join or create team” button. A number of templates are available when you click the “Create Team”.

How many people can I see in a Teams Meeting?

Teams can now display up to 9 people in a meeting in a 3 x 3 grid.
